Once you have decided that you want to learn or practice your Spanish, you will be able to choose from ten different types of courses. You can learn just the language or do something extra like Culture, Literature, Business or Translation, if you need to be fluent quickly, we have another special course “to get you speaking” sooner than expected. Maybe you want very specific Spanish for your job or a tailor made course just for you or the D.E.L.E exam ( the official diploma of the Spanish Government showing your level of the language). I am a 65 year old New Zealander who has been taking weekend Spanish classes as a hobby for the last 2.5 years at the local high school. There are few opportunities to practice and speak Spanish to native speakers in New Zealand.
Some internet browsing told me that Salamanca was a good place to learn Spanish and I located Delibes on line.
At first I was anxious that I would be so much older than the other students and that I might feel out of place, but the Delibes staff were very welcoming and made me feel very comfortable. The college is very well organised and they quickly graded me into a level of Spanish that suited where I was at. The teachers were challenging but also very nice. I also enjoyed my classmates who came from many different countries.
I particularly enjoyed the afternoon and evening activities programme that the school provided. These covered different aspects of Spanish culture, history, geography and comida.
I stayed in a homestay that I found myself. It was within 15 minutes walk from Delibes Colegio. Salamanca is a great place to visit. It is very safe and you can walk everywhere. There are lots of interesting places to visit.
My only regret was that I only had two weeks. It would have been great to have more time to make more progress.
